Reflections

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with "Reflections," it is a nationwide arts recognition and achievement program in which all of our students here at Monarch Elementary are eligible to participate. Although the program does follow a 'contest' format, the main goal of the program is participation, not winning! It gives every student the opportunity to create a work of art based on a specific theme and to feel good about it.
This year's theme is "The Magic of a Moment" and there are six arts areas in which students may participate:
     - Literature
     - Musical Composition
     - Photography
     - Visual Arts
     - Dance Choreography
     -Film/Video Production
Students are divided and judged in two different age groups:
     - K-2
     - 3-5
We would like to encourage EVERY student to enter as many times as they would like!! We will be offering a variety of incentives & prizes for students and classrooms that participate!! ALL entries are DUE Monday October 8th. For the program rules and entry forms please see the link on the school web site.
If you have any questions at all please feel free to contact either Milana Parsons: milana55@bellsouth.net or Nancy Roy: Nroy107@cs.com
Thanks so much! We are looking forward to seeing all the great work of art!!

Book Fair and Grandparents Week - September 30th - October 5th

We are excited to announce that we will have our Book Fair and Grandparents Week at the same time.  Each grade will have their own special day.  We are inviting the grandparents to have lunch (normal schedule) with their grandchild and then visit the book fair together after lunch (hours below.)  Our book fair coordinators are preparing invitations for the students to customize and give to their grandparents.  Please help us make this a "Grand Event!" This is a great time for our students to share a little of Monarch with their special loved ones.

Each classroom will also have a designated time to visit the bookfair in addition to the time below.
